On 11 September 2026, BATTI organised a pilot event in Varna within the framework of the ANCHOR project, focused on strengthening the connection between jobseekers, public institutions and employers.

The event combined two pilot actions selected through the local ANCHOR process — Workshops for Vulnerable Groups and Open Workplace Days — creating a practical pathway from employability preparation to direct contact with a real employer.

Practical Employability Training at the Labour Bureau – Varna

The first part of the initiative took place at the premises of the Directorate “Labour Bureau” – Varna.

The workshop was designed to strengthen participants’ readiness to enter or re-enter the labour market and focused on practical topics directly related to the job-search process.

The training covered:

  • motivation and confidence in job searching;
  • preparation of a CV and professional profile;
  • preparation for job interviews;
  • basic financial and labour-related literacy.

The emphasis was placed on practical examples, discussion and real-life situations that participants may encounter when applying for a job or starting work in a new organisation.

From Training to a Real Workplace

Following the training session, participants took part in an Open Workplace Day at Marcella supermarkets.

The visit provided an opportunity to experience a real working environment and learn more about workplace organisation, employer expectations and available employment opportunities.

Participants were able to ask questions directly to the employer and discuss practical aspects of the recruitment process, including job responsibilities, working conditions and workplace expectations.

This created a direct link between the two parts of the event — from preparation for the labour market to real interaction with an employer and workplace environment.

Practical Support for Local Labour Market Challenges

The pilot activities were developed as a result of the work carried out within the Varna Local Labour Market Forum.

Through the Forum, representatives of different stakeholder organisations identified key local labour market challenges and discussed practical approaches to improving access to employment.

Among the selected solutions were:

  • practical employability workshops for people facing difficulties in accessing the labour market;
  • activities that create opportunities for direct interaction between jobseekers and employers.

These measures are designed to respond to concrete local needs and provide participants with practical knowledge, confidence and direct exposure to potential workplaces.

Strengthening Cooperation Between Jobseekers, Institutions and Employers

Through the implementation of the ANCHOR pilot activities, BATTI continues to promote stronger cooperation between institutions, employers and people seeking professional opportunities.

By combining practical training with direct workplace experience, the initiative contributes to the development of a more inclusive, accessible and responsive local labour market in Varna.
