On October 23-24, 2024, a partnership meeting for the T3N-BSB project (Transnational Technology Transfer Network in the Black Sea Basin) took place in Varna, Bulgaria. This project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT program for the Black Sea Basin. The initiative brings together institutions and organizations from four countries — Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece — to create an innovative network for technology transfer in the region. During the meeting, the differences in the technology transfer systems of the participating countries and potential areas for collaboration were thoroughly discussed.

The main mission of the T3N-BSB project is to strengthen international cooperation between the target groups and organizations in the Black Sea Basin and enhance their capacity for technology transfer and innovation. The project aims to foster the exchange of experience and best practices by establishing a sustainable technology network, supporting joint research and development, and facilitating access to new technologies and innovative solutions in the fields of the blue economy, low-carbon economy, and climate resilience.

Project partners:

  • Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) – Turkey
  • “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati (UDJG) – Romania
  • Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) – Greece
  • Bulgarian Association for Technology Transfer and Innovation (BATTI) – Bulgaria

The project runs from July 2024 to January 2026, encompassing large-scale initiatives aimed at developing technology transfer capacity and creating transnational network structures.

The project’s target groups include entrepreneurs, academia, students, technology transfer professionals, industrialists, chambers of commerce, and business support organizations. By engaging these groups, the project aims to strengthen economic and technological cooperation in the Black Sea Basin and enhance the region’s competitiveness on the international stage.

Expected project outcomes:

  1. Black Sea Forum and T3N-BSB Online Portal – A platform for communication and collaboration among partners, including workshops, working meetings, bilateral sessions, and competitions for students and professionals.
  2. Detailed Reports and Training Programs – Country-specific reports reflecting the state of the technology transfer ecosystem and training programs designed to build technology transfer skills within the target groups.
  3. Multidimensional Technology Analysis Tool – An analytical tool focused on innovation, applicability, sustainability, and international scalability potential.
  4. Catalog of Technologies and Database of Successful Project Models – Highlighting key technologies of national importance and successful projects focused on the blue economy, low-carbon economy, and climate adaptation.

The T3N-BSB project is expected to foster lasting partnerships and sustainable innovative solutions while advancing the research and innovation culture in the Black Sea region. With its wide range of activities and target groups, the project represents a significant step toward building a competitive and integrated technology network in the region.
