BATTI presents the third informational video in the series dedicated to the pilot activities implemented within the international DANOVA NEXT project.
The new video focuses on urban public transport and introduces solutions aimed at creating a more accessible, safe and inclusive environment for persons with disabilities and passengers with reduced mobility.
Accessible public transport is essential for independent mobility and full participation in society. However, many passengers continue to face barriers in their daily journeys, including inaccessible vehicles and stops, insufficient travel information, difficulties with independent navigation and digital services that do not adequately address their needs.
DANOVA NEXT works to improve accessibility in air, water and urban public transport through innovative services, accessible digital information and the establishment of a Smart Transport Network connecting transport facilities across the Danube Region. The partnership includes transport operators and organisations covering all three modes, including urban public transport stakeholders from Maribor, Bratislava and Czechia.
The pilot activities demonstrate how infrastructure improvements, clear passenger information, accessible digital solutions and better organisation of services can facilitate the daily mobility of people with physical, visual and hearing impairments.
The active participation of users is a central element of the project. People with different types of disabilities have been involved in testing and evaluating the developed solutions, ensuring that they are practical, understandable and responsive to passengers’ real needs. A total of 123 representatives of the project’s main target groups participated in workshops testing the DANOVA NEXT application across the Danube Region.
The project’s main results include the Strategy for Accessible Transport in the Danube Region, a self-assessment toolkit for transport facilities, a Smart Transport Network and a web application serving as a single access point for accessibility information covering air, water and urban transport.
The video highlights the importance of targeted investment, cooperation among institutions and the active involvement of persons with disabilities in the planning and improvement of urban mobility services.
