In Varna, Bulgaria, the city became a vibrant hub of collaboration, innovation, and strategic thinking on 12-13 November, as partners of the ANCHOR project came together for an intensive transnational meeting focused on one key mission: turning strategy into tangible local action across the Danube Region.

Bridging Strategy and Reality

A central highlight of the meeting was the in-depth discussion on how the ANCHOR Transnational Strategy can be effectively translated into meaningful local initiatives. Partners explored the strategic framework, timelines, and implementation logic, with a strong emphasis on Local Action Plans as the main vehicle for change.

Through interactive sessions, participants examined how knowledge providers, local stakeholders, and labour market actors can work together to address real challenges on the ground. The discussions reinforced a shared understanding that strategies only succeed when they are rooted in local realities and co-created with those who will implement and benefit from them.

Hands-On Collaboration and Pilot Planning

The second day of the meeting, 13 November, shifted from strategy to practice. Partners engaged in focused workshops dedicated to project management, communication, and the development of innovative pilot actions under Specific Objective 2 (SO2). Working in groups, participants exchanged ideas and explored concrete ways to support local labour markets through testing and experimentation.

These pilot actions are designed to be implemented within Local Labour Market Forums, ensuring that solutions are not only innovative but also inclusive, adaptable, and directly relevant to local needs. The collaborative atmosphere encouraged open dialogue, peer learning, and cross-cultural inspiration.

More Than a Meeting

Beyond the working sessions, the Varna meeting also strengthened the human side of the partnership. A guided cultural tour of the city, including visits to iconic landmarks such as the Varna Archaeological Museum and the Roman Thermae, offered participants a chance to connect informally, deepen relationships, and experience the rich cultural heritage of the host city.

The event marked an important milestone for the ANCHOR project, reinforcing trust among partners and providing clear direction for the next steps in local implementation, pilot testing, and sustained stakeholder engagement.
