An expert meeting under the ROMAN LEGACY project took place on 31 October 2025 at the Regional Historical Museum in Ruse, co-organised by ADRM, BATTI, and the Municipality of Belene.

The event brought together representatives from museums, municipalities, universities, tourism organisations, and local communities across the Bulgarian Danube region. The discussions focused on identifying key heritage sites that could be part of a future Roman cultural route along the Danube. Participants exchanged ideas about criteria such as historical significance, accessibility, preservation status, storytelling potential, and the active role of local communities.
During the meeting, the Kale Shirokovo Fortress was presented as an inspiring example of strong heritage value and community involvement. Attendees also took part in an interactive session on joint branding, where the symbol of the bridge was highlighted as a metaphor for both physical and cultural connections across borders.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continued cooperation in shaping the Roman cultural route and strengthening regional identity.
