The 3rd Transnational Project Meeting of the MED-Routes initiative is taking place in Paphos, Cyprus! Our dedicated partners are working together to promote sustainable cultural tourism across the Mediterranean. Here’s a glimpse into the key topics on the agenda:

  • Circular Economy in Cultural Tourism: #DUNEA shared their progress on creating a Joint Roadmap for Cultural Routes to promote sustainability and low-impact tourism options.
  • Carbon Footprint Assessment: The Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation (BATTI) provided valuable insights into assessing the environmental impact of our project, using carbon footprint analysis to guide greener practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Eco-Itineraries: Insuleur presented their work on strategic stakeholder engagement and the progress of Participatory Labs that involve local communities in shaping eco-friendly travel routes.
  • Creation of Mediterranean Eco-Itineraries & Green Label Development: ️ Pafos Region shared initial concepts for eco-itineraries designed around cultural routes, with an emphasis on regional sustainability. They also introduced updates on the upcoming “Green Label” , which will focus on branding and visual identity for sustainable tourism.
  • Promotional Strategy & Sustainable Practices: #DUNEA and Unione Romagna Faentina outlined their strategies for promoting the new eco-itineraries, helping position MEDRoutes as a leader in sustainable tourism practices.
  • Local Capacity Building & Training: Sveučilište Libertas – Libertas International University presented their work on developing training materials and workshops aimed at empowering local stakeholders to implement sustainable tourism practices, ensuring that the project benefits local communities.

These discussions reflect our collective commitment to protecting and celebrating the Mediterranean’s cultural heritage through responsible tourism practices.
