The AIRQUEST International Symposium, titled “Clean Air for a Sustainable and Healthy Future,” took place from 27 to 29 April 2026 in Zonguldak, Türkiye. The event was hosted by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University and organised in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation.

The symposium brought together scientists, researchers, environmental experts and representatives of the AIRQUEST partner organisations. Its main objective was to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge, practical approaches and innovative solutions for improving air quality and reducing the impact of pollution on human health and the environment.

The programme included seven keynote speakers and the presentation of 14 scientific studies. The sessions addressed the relationship between climate change and air pollution, the effects of particulate matter on human health, green infrastructure, sustainable mobility, pollutant monitoring and the development of more resilient urban environments.

The Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation actively contributed to the preparation of the event. Alexandar Danailov and Gabriela Popova from BATTI were members of the Organising Committee.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the programme included discussions, exchanges of good practices and visits to natural, cultural and industrial sites in the Zonguldak region.

The AIRQUEST International Symposium demonstrated that tackling air pollution effectively requires a combination of reliable scientific evidence, international cooperation and active community involvement.

The AIRQUEST project is co-funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.
